Coach Phil Griffith

This is his nineth year of coaching club volleyball. Phil has coached girls from 12s through 18s. Several of Phil's players have gone on to play at the collegiate level, such as, Meramec Community College and Fontbonne University.  Phil is passionate about the sport of volleyball and is constantly increasing his knowledge of the sport by attending clinics and symposiums throughout the year. It is Phil’s intent in his coaching to transfer that knowledge and passion for the game to his players.

Phil is insistent that all players be able to properly execute the fundamental skills of volleyball. He takes a walk before you run approach so that the foundation of success is laid at the beginning of each season. Building on the foundation of fundamental skills Phil's objectives for the season are to increase the level of competitiveness of his team. He also wants to give his players the best chance he can to play competitive high school and college volleyball. To achieve both of these ends his team will enter the qualifiers and other tournaments that offer a high level of competition.

Phil is CAP 1 certified.

Coach Dave Schauwecker

Dave has been coaching girls volleyball for the past twelve years starting as an assistant. In 2002, Dave completed CAP II training and in June, 2006, completed VCAP (Volleyball Conditioning Accredation Program) training. Dave has coached jr. high volleyball at Green Park Lutheran School for the past ten years.  Many of the players Dave has coached have gone on to play varsity volleyball at the high school of their choice and several have gone on to play at the collegiate level. These players have represented Lutheran High School South, Lindbergh High School, Oakville High School, Mater Dei High School, Mascoutah High School, Rockwood, Notre Dame High School, Fontbonne University, Missouri Baptist, Missouri S&T, Webster University, Barton College, and the University of Northern Iowa to name a few.

Dave believes club volleyball should be used to ready the player to play competitive high school volleyball through the developement of fundamental skills and learning how to interact with players, opponents, and coaches. After making the high school team the club player should use club ball to hone her skills to compete on the varsity level and then to ready herself for collegiate play if she so desires. Above all, Dave believes that academics should come first. Players should be encourage to set academic goals as well as set athletic goals.

Dave is also a Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) certified referee.

Coach Trisha Kamphuis

My name is Trisha Kamphuis.  I graduated cum laude in 2008 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I majored in the Administration of Justice and currently work at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as a Police Officer.  Although this will be my first time coaching volleyball, I have played volleyball for many years.  I played volleyball from 2000-2004 at LaSalle Peru Township High School.  During my high school years, I played as a setter and a defensive specialist.  I attended a setter's camp at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL and also played 2 years of club volleyball for a satellite team of Fusion Volleyball.  After graduating from high school, I went on to play 2 years as a DS/Libero for the volleyball team at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, IL for which I was given a full athletic scholarship.  During my 2 years at IVCC, I received 2 awards for maintaining a 3.5 or better grade point average while playing volleyball.  After graduating from IVCC in December of 2006 with my Associate of Arts degree, I attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where I played volleyball as a walk-on. During my playing time at SIUC, our volleyball team made it to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, something the SIUC volleyball teams in the past hadn't accomplished in 8 years. I have truly missed volleyball over the past couple years during my transition from college to beginning a career.  Due to my playing volleyball at all different levels, I feel I definitely have something to teach young girls as far as improving their volleyball skills and preparing them as players to compete at a higher level. I am excited to be around volleyball again (this time as a coach) and look forward to the upcoming season!

Coach Tom Dooling

I first became interested in volleyball more than 25 years ago when I played on an intramural team in college.  After college, I began playing recreationally and attended local clinics and camps to improve my skills and knowledge of the game.  As my skills improved, I became a player/coach on my teams and began to play at a more competitive level.  Fourteen years ago, I began coaching youth volleyball at the CYC level.  I was not blessed with above average athletic ability, so I had to work very hard to improve my skills and I think that gives me an appreciation for the amount of work it takes to improve and hone your skills.  I no longer play competitively, and have decided to focus on coaching youth volleyball at a higher level and where there is more dedication from the players.  As a coach, I strongly emphasize fundamentals and challenge players to push themselves to improve.  The CYC level teams I have coached have shown steady improvement with my coaching and training.  I am positive in my practices and instruction and treat my players with respect.  I have never been carded in a match as a player or coach, and have twice been recognized with sportsmanship awards. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you this season.
